Afro Perming is a one-day programme focused on cold curl reformation using ammonium thioglycolate. The technique reshapes tightly curled hair into softer, more manageable curls with defined curves and a natural-looking finish.
The course combines foundations of trichology with hair assessment, helping stylists understand how hair condition and chemical history inform product selection, processing time and the choice of perm rod size.

Explore hair and scalp assessment, porosity, elasticity and previous chemical treatments. Learn how to plan the service and select suitable products, processing times and rod sizes according to the client’s hair and desired result.
Put the theory into practice through guided application and winding techniques, adapting rod sizes to the intended curl shape. Develop your understanding of processing, neutralisation, finishing and aftercare.
The salon provides all required products, tools and equipment, along with models or mannequin heads. Mannequin heads must have 100% human hair; synthetic hair and human–synthetic blends are unsuitable. Preparation requirements are agreed before the course.

In the afternoon, participants practise application and winding, with guidance on adapting the technique to the client’s hair and desired curl shape. Processing, neutralisation, finishing and aftercare are explored as part of the complete service.
